Tribology & Surface Treatment

The piston rod is the critical interface. We apply a multi-layer Hard Chrome plating (minimum 30 microns) polished to Ra 0.2. This creates a surface hardness exceeding HV850, allowing the rod to repel abrasive sinter dust particles rather than allowing them to embed and score the steel substrate.

Advanced Guide Ring System

To combat “side-loading” wear, we integrate reinforced phenolic fabric or bronze-filled PTFE guide rings. These wear rings absorb the radial loads generated by the feed motion, preventing metal-to-metal contact between the piston and the barrel, significantly extending the service life.
