Cilindros hidráulicos de elevación de alta temperatura para sistemas de campanas de convertidores metalúrgicos
The Ultimate Defense Against Radiant Heat, Toxic Smoke, and Abrasive Dust in BOF Operations
The Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) represents the violent, molten heart of steel production. Suspended directly above this inferno is the primary smoke hood, a critical component that must capture fugitive emissions and recover energy. The hydraulic cylinders responsible for lifting and lowering this skirt are not merely actuators; they are frontline soldiers in a thermal war zone. As an application engineer with nearly two decades of focus on metallurgical hydraulics, I have analyzed the debris of countless failed cylinders. The culprit is rarely a lack of force, but rather an inability to survive the environment.
Standard hydraulic units crumble here. The combination of ambient temperatures frequently exceeding 100°C, radiant heat spikes during the blow, and the pervasive ingress of conductive, abrasive metallurgical dust creates a scenario where standard seals harden and rods score within weeks. Operational stability demands a fundamental shift in engineering philosophy. We utilize a Double-Acting, Alloy Steel Welded Architecture specifically shielded against thermal degradation. Our design prioritizes seal longevity and rod surface integrity, ensuring that your emissions control system remains operational, safe, and compliant.

Engineering Against Thermal & Mechanical Failure
High-Alloy Structural Integrity
The dynamic load of a massive water-cooled smoke hood requires extreme rigidity. We reject standard mild steel in favor of high-strength Alloy Steel (typically 27SiMn or 42CrMo) for the cylinder barrel and rod. This ensures that even under maximum extension and thermal expansion, the cylinder maintains its linearity, preventing the “buckling” effect that destroys seals. The welded construction eliminates gasket failure points common in tie-rod designs.
The Viton™ Defense System
Standard Nitrile (NBR) seals begin to harden at 80°C and crack shortly after. Our Hood Lift Series utilizes a dedicated Fluorocarbon (FKM/Viton) sealing matrix capable of continuous operation at 200°C. Coupled with PTFE-bronze wear rings, this system provides low-friction movement even when the hydraulic fluid viscosity changes due to heat, ensuring smooth hood modulation.
Chrome & Ceramic Shielding
Dust from the converter is highly abrasive. We apply a multi-layer Hard Chrome plating (>50 microns) to the piston rod, finished to a mirror polish. For extreme zones, we offer laser-clad ceramic coatings that are impervious to slag splash. Additionally, heavy-duty metallic scrapers are installed to mechanically shear off debris before it enters the gland.

Customer Success Story
Retrofitting the 120-Ton Converter at Hebei Iron & Steel
El desafío: A major steelworks in Tangshan was experiencing chronic failure of their secondary smoke hood lifting cylinders. The intense heat flux during the “blow” phase was causing the OEM cylinders’ seals to bake and crumble every 3 months. The resulting hydraulic oil leaks posed a severe fire hazard and caused unplanned shutdowns.
La solución: Ever Power engineering team conducted an on-site thermal analysis. We designed a custom drop-in replacement cylinder featuring a water-cooled jacket integrated into the cylinder barrel and our proprietary “HT-Shield” rod protection bellows.
El resultado: The new cylinders have been operational for 18 months with zero leakage. Maintenance intervals were extended by 500%, and the fire risk from leaking oil was eliminated.
“We haven’t changed a seal in over a year. The water-cooling jacket design was a game changer.”
– Maintenance Director
“Ever Power delivered the custom units in 35 days, allowing us to meet our shutdown schedule.”

Respuestas de expertos: Charla técnica sobre hidráulica
How does Ever Power protect cylinders from converter radiant heat?
We utilize Viton (FKM) high-temperature seals rated for 200°C+, install metallic rod scrapers to remove hot slag, and can integrate water-cooled jackets or fire-sleeved bellows for extreme zones.
Can you manufacture a drop-in replacement for our existing hood cylinder?
Yes, we specialize in reverse engineering. Provide us with the model number, drawing, or dimensions, and we will manufacture a cylinder that fits your existing mounting points perfectly.
What is the typical lead time for a custom metallurgical cylinder?
For custom alloy steel cylinders, our typical production cycle is 30-45 days. We also offer an expedited ‘Green Channel’ service for critical mill breakdowns.
Do you test cylinders before shipping from China?
Absolutely. Every cylinder undergoes a 1.5x rated pressure test, internal leakage test, and dimensional inspection. We provide full test reports and material certificates with every shipment.
